NYTimes.com carries an item from Greenwire about recent busts in “Operation Save Our Sierras,” a massive federal investigation into drug cartels using public lands in Northern California as marijuana plantations. The story says that public lands across the West are under environmental pressure from this new and heavily-armed threat.  Will our national forests become a casualty in what was formerly known as the War on Drugs? Is this proof that smoking pot is socially irresponsible? Is this caused by marijuana prohibition? Please discuss.
