TARRYTOWN, New York — InvestigateWest has become a charter member of the agreement to create the “Investigative News Network,” a national network of nonprofit investigative news outlets.
“This is a great day for journalism, and a great day for the people and places we serve,” said InvestigateWest co-founder Daniel Lathrop. “It was a privilege to work with the giants of journalism to help reinvent the business model for investigative reporting.”
The INN was created during a three-day, invitation-only meeting at the Pocantico Conference Center in Tarrytown, NY. The meeting was sponsored by the Center for Public Integrity and the Center for Investigative Reporting . Those in attendance included InvestigateWest co-founder Daniel Lathrop as well as representatives of National Public Radio, wnet.org, the New England Center for Investigative Reporting and other leading nonprofit news organizations.
The groups issued a joint statement titled, “The Pocantico Declaration: Creating a Nonprofit Investigative News Network,” and have formed a board and working groups.
